Would you have the guts to send back a risotto at the world’s best restaurant? Well,Dan Ahdootdid, and it’s just one of the hilarious personal stories he shares in this episode ofFreshly Squeezed.
Ahdoot is primarily known as a comedian and actor in hit shows such asCobra Kai. But he is also a committed food explorer, restaurant investor and hunter, with his own hugely popular food podcast (Green Eggs and Dan) and a show on theFood Network(Raid the Fridge) that offers a voyeuristic look into the fridges of the famous.
But it’s from his forthcoming memoir,Undercooked(formerly titledLucky Sole), that many of the stories in this podcast originate, like the aforementioned time he visitedOsteria Francescanain Modena, Italy, on the day it was crowned number one onThe World’s 50 Best Restaurantslist.
“Let me tell you, that [sending back the risotto for being undercooked] was the wrong decision,” says Ahdoot. “It created such a mess in the dining room, everyone knew something was up… total record scratch.”
He also discusses his Iranian heritage, cancel culture and the war on cow’s milk in celebrities’ fridges. “They [celebrities] say ‘nut milk’ like they aren’t funny words, without laughing, which is ridiculous, because it’s a ridiculous term,” says Ahdoot.
